Convoluted adj.
1. having numerous overlapping coils or folds
2. intricate, complicated

It's all so convoluted...

Michael Savage says that liberalism is a mental disorder. Disorder is an interesting word. I think what he is referring to is that common sense is clouded. Liberal social/political ideologies are founded on a skewed perception of reality. I believe this is the premise of his statement, but I may be off. I've never really heard him go into detail of how, exactly, it can be classified as a mental disorder. If I feel "too much" compassion for an illegal immigrant, I will decide that it is this alien's right to go to a hospital and be cared for. I will decide that it is this alien's right to have a home and food, if nothing else, provided by the state. This can quickly become a drain on the resources of our society and government. Giving too much space for that compassion threatens our infrastructure. It is not a good decision for the country. This is the disorder.

Anxiety n.
1. a state of uneasiness and apprehension, as about future uncertainties.

I often wonder if I suffer from an anxiety disorder. I feel that at times my anxiety gets in the way of my own physical and psychological functioning. I think that liberalism and anxiety are in the same camp, if both can truly be classified as disorders. I feel an unfounded amount of concern for a given situation, and act in a way that, when all is said and done, worsens it. I recognize this in myself, and as a result, often feel crippled and unable to take a stand. This just makes me more anxious.

"Everybody knows what it’s like to feel anxious -- the butterflies in your stomach before a first date, the tension you feel when your boss is angry, the way your heart pounds if you’re in danger. Anxiety rouses you to action. It gears you up to face a threatening situation. It makes you study harder for that exam, and keeps you on your toes when you’re making a speech. In general, it helps you cope.

"But if you have an anxiety disorder, this normally helpful emotion can do just the opposite -- it can keep you from coping and can disrupt your daily life. Anxiety disorders aren’t just a case of 'nerves.' They are illnesses, often related to the biological makeup and life experiences of the individual, and they frequently run in families. There are several types of anxiety disorders, each with its own distinct features. They include generalized anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, phobias, and post-traumatic stress disorder." Source

Yeah, I suppose extreme liberalism, bordering on socialism, is caused by a mental disorder. This article I just quoted mentioned that anxiety disorders are an illness related to biological factors and life experiences. Interesting. Life experiences can produce a disorder. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Is it truly a disorder, or should it just be called a way of thinking? Who can establish a norm for thought processes? A norm is necessary in order to label something a disorder, right?

Ironic. My anxiety is causing me to worry about political correctness, a hallmark of liberalism. Ironic. I'm sleepy, and need a hug and a kiss from Nikki. It's the simple things in life that keep me ticking.

What's intersting to me is that liberalism seems synonomous with socialism, especially in the terms you've described it (in your first paragraph). I've never been much into politics (that is, until I started listening to Michael Savage), and so this has never occurred to me.

It's easy to be beneficient and compassionate to people when your immediate comforts are met. The location of the person being compassionate (i.e. a rock singer such as Bright Eyes -- not really rock, but you get the idea) is directly related to the amount of compassion they have (it doesn't affect them immediately because they're so far away from it. It's just an idea). You can sing all you want about how we should provide food and shelter to everyone and not discriminate against illegal immigrants. But if it was Bright Eyes who had to put the illegal immigrant up, in his own house, or in a hotel room, or buy groceries for them...well, you ask, would he do it? I don't think so. Too inconvenient.

Just some thoughts.
